A day in the life of an Marketing Apprentice

My name is Lexie and I am a Digital Marketing apprentice at Professional Apprenticeships. I am around 8 months into my apprenticeship so far.  It’s is National Apprenticeship Week so I thought I’d share what my typical day looks like as a Digital Marketing Apprentice.

Being a Digital Marketing apprentice is a varied role, however, I usually get in the office at around 8:00 am, and once I’ve eaten my breakfast, my first task of the day is to work on our social media.  Social media work can vary so depending on the day I might be making a plan for the following week or researching the latest trends. One of my social media highlights so far has to definitely be getting 20k views on a TikTok video!

Once I am finished with the content creation and scheduling of the social media, I will make sure that our website is up to date with our latest vacancies. My official role is a ‘Digital Recruitment Assistant’. Therefore, I work partially in the recruitment team, scouting for the newest apprenticeship talent. One of my favourite tasks to do is to make ‘video Spotlights’, this is where I pick out applicants to promote on our social media. I will spend a couple of hours with an applicant making a video and hopefully find them new vacancies. When I do this I will usually spend the rest of the day editing the videos I have recorded and catching up with current apprentices and applicants.

Throughout my apprenticeship so far I feel as if I’ve grown massively in confidence and I still (even 8 months in), learn something new every day.

When I first started eight months ago, I struggled to write an email on my own, let alone plan and execute a week’s worth of social media content. I owe this to the team at Professional Apprenticeships for my continuous growth.

I cannot wait to see what my future career in marketing looks like for me… Watch this space.
