5 reasons why an Advanced Business Apprenticeship
is a great move for your child.

Business apprenticeships have often not been given the credit they deserve and are often seen as an option for people who are not sure about what they want to do when they leave school. This, however, couldn’t be further from the truth when looking at Advanced Business Administration Apprenticeship. If your son or daughter is looking for their next steps after school or college here are a few reasons to consider a business apprenticeship.

  1.    Many people focus on the qualifications apprentices will be studying but it is important to also look at the industry your child will be working within. Yes, they will be starting at the bottom but often this is a great way to begin rewarding careers in industries such as; Law, Finance, Property, Recruitment and many more. One year in a business apprenticeship and apprentices can often progress onto the next step in that industry.
  1.    Unlike many peoples preconceived idea of administration, apprentices will not only be answering the phone and filing paperwork (although this may be part of the role). Advanced Business Administration Apprentices will be learning how to develop processes and procedures, manage projects, recruit staff, sell products or services, manage the businesses budget and finances and managing business software and technology. These are only a handful of the subjects in the qualification, but they are also skills that would allow your child to one day set up their own business should they wish to.
  1.    Why should your child stop at one apprenticeship? After completing their Business Admin Level 3 (A-level Equivalent) your child will have a huge amount of professional opportunities open to them. Many of the Advanced Business Apprentices at Professional Apprenticeships move straight onto our Management Apprenticeships like our Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor and some onto Level 4 Associate Project Management. In industries like Law and Finance, many companies offer progression into relevant industry qualifications and you can even become a Solicitor through the apprenticeship route now!
  1.    It is difficult to know what you want to do with the rest of your life and with people’s careers becoming ever more fluid, an apprenticeship in business allows a young person to keep their options open. The huge amounts of transferable skills mean that you will never struggle to find work and if there is a specific area of the apprenticeship that the apprentice enjoys then you can specialise after. An example of this is progressing from Business Administration to Digital Marketing and Social Media in their second apprenticeship.
  1.    The important thing to remember is that business apprenticeships aren’t a backup plan. If your child hasn’t got the grades they were looking for, we would advise they go back to college to upskill themselves before applying for apprenticeship roles. Although they can retake English and Maths in the form of Functional Skills Exams, most businesses will be looking for someone with good grades especially in Maths and English and Business at GCSE or A-Level go a long way as well.
