Health & Safety

All employers who take on an apprentice will always have a Health and Safety assessment carried out by Professional Apprenticeships prior to any apprentices starting with them.

This ensures that we are confident that your workplace is as safe as can be and that processes are in place to continually review and improve your Health, Safety and Welfare. It’s imperative that health and safety for any persons participating in an apprenticeship is the same standard as that required in relation to any of its employees under current relevant health and safety legislation in Great Britain (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974). If you feel at any time unsafe in your workplace please make contact with our Safeguarding Lead Carina Bush on 01174224000 or email Safeguarding@professionalapprenticeships.co.uk.

You are entitled to the same protection under the law as any employee, but you also have a legal duty to obey safety rules at your work placement and apprenticeship provider. Protective clothing and safety equipment must be used at all time where specified. If special protective equipment, or safety equipment is necessary, then it must be provided free of charge to the apprentice by your employer.

You also have a duty of care to your employer and other employees in the workplace, this also applies when at training. If you have an accident you must report it to your workplace supervisor and make sure it is recorded in the accident book. Any accident, however minor, must also be reported to your tutor / trainer immediatelyHealth
