Government Announces New Apprenticeship Grants

Any employer that hires an apprentice from the 1st August 2020, is eligible to access a government grant of £3,000 – £4,000 per apprentice. Organisations will receive grants from the government as incentives for employing new apprentices; this will go a long way to tackle the rising amount of young people out of work.

16-18 years old (£4,000) – Currently you can access a £1,000 grant for taking on an apprentice that is aged between 16 and 18 years old. This grant is paid in two instalments of £500. The new grants mean you will receive an additional £3,000 for anyone of this age group, bringing the total up to £4,000.

19-25 years old & anyone older (£3,000) – For this age group you will still receive the flat £3,000 grant for hiring an apprentice, although you will be required to pay 5% contribution to any apprentices training cost.
